Late Iran director to be honored at FIFF

An exhibition of pictures, posters and cartoons on Abbas Kiarostami is to be held in Fajr International Film Festival.

Seyfollah Samadian, a Fajr Int’l Festival official, told the media that this year the exhibition is to be held in the memory of late Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami.

He added that 68 pictures, 30 posters and 12 cartoons are to be displayed at this exhibition.

Abbas Kiarostami, who died in July 2016, was an Iranian film director, whose ‘Taste of Cherry’ grabbed the Palme d’Or at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival.

Several prestigious festivals and film events have already honored the noted Iranian director as well as paid homage to Kiarostami by organizing retrospectives of his works.

He is mostly known as a screenwriter, film editor, art director and producer as well as a poet, photographer, painter, illustrator, and graphic designer.

The cinematic works by the internationally acclaimed filmmaker have been hailed by various festivals around the world.
